Bill Anschell Trio: Homecoming and South American Send-off on September 28th
Longtime Atlanta pianist Bill Anschell will return to the city in preparation for his trio's fifth South American tour. Since leaving in 2002 for his hometown of Seattle, Anschell was named Northwest Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year in 2005, and his Seattle trio was named 2006 Northwest Acoustic Jazz Ensemble of the Year.
Joined by his regular touring unit featuring Atlanta artists Ramon Pooser on bass and Phil Smith on drums, Anschell will perform Sunday, September 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 at the home of Dan & Susan Turner - the "Conyers Jazz Hall." The trio's repertoire will include many of Anschell's original compositions and "derangements" of jazz standards, and well as special arrangements of popular traditional songs from Peru and Colombia. Samples of Anschell's music can be found on his website, www.billanschell.com
Specific details, including the admission fee and menu items, are still being worked out, but you can reserve a seat by contacting email@example.com. Additional information will be made available in the coming weeks by email and at the website of the Southeastern Organization for Jazz Arts (SOJA), which is sponsoring the event. SOJA's website events page is http://soja-home.org/events.aspx, and they can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear one of Anschell's rare Atlanta concert appearances, and the first Atlanta concert performance by this trio, which has toured extensively throughout South America to great acclaim, and has a huge repertoire of original music.
